When you talk about the Blues, the harmonica is one of its cornerstones - a key element of the entire scene.
Playing blues harp is like a sorcerer's art - it takes a little attitude, a little improvisation - and a dash of mumbo jumbo!
For 36 years, we have been celebrating the giants of the genre, and this year is our biggest and brightest yet:
Explore the universe of the blues harp with top players like Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, Kim Wilson from the Fabulous Thunderbirds, the Mercedes Moore band featuring Dennis Gruenling and Laura Chavez, plus the ageless Billy Watson teaming up with the young Shy But Flyy.
To top off these amazing Thanksgiving Eve performances, we have a Tribute to Little Walter. It stars the Memphis Kings together with harp talents like R.J. Mishco, Eric Von Herzen and Little A.
For the first time, our Battle of the Blues Harp lineup includes several female artists: San Diego's Mercedes Moore will be our emcee for the evening and fronts her own all-star band; talented Shy But Flyy brings her strong soulful voice to the show, and Honey Piazza returns as pianist for the Mighty Flyers.
Help us make harmonica history, from the 1947 beginnings of Little Walter - all the way to 2024 - with today's top cats.

Buy TicketsA Smokin' Rockabilly New Years Eve!
The Paladins were one of leading lights in the California roots and rockabilly music scene of the early '80s, along with such rockin' bands as Los Lobos and the Blasters.
The band was formed by guitarist/vocalist Dave Gonzalez and bassist Thomas Yearsley while they were attending high school in San Diego in the late '70s. With their old-school approach to rockin' R&B, blues and rockabilly, the Paladins earned a strong following, as well as opening for such bands as X, the Blasters, the Stray Cats and the Fabulous Thunderbirds - whose vocalist, Kim Wilson, produced the band's 1986 self-titled debut album.
The Paladins followed up with several well-received albums on Alligator Records, and the '90s saw the band dig deeper into a mix of rockin' R&B and blues with such albums as 1994's Ticket Home, the 1996 live album Million Mile Club, and 1999's Rejuvenated. Also in 1999, the Paladins released the album Slippin' In, which showcased a return to the more rockabilly-oriented sound of their early albums. Palvoline No. 7 followed in 2001 with Matador appearing two years later. In 2007, the Paladins released the concert album Power Shake, which featured them performing live in Holland. Since then, they have made several more live appearances and in 2013, released the EP Wicked.
In 2017, the Paladins returned with New World, the band's first studio album in over a decade. During and after the Pandemic, the band has chosen to play only a select few dates - and this is ONE!

Buy TicketsJohn McEuen Returns to His Roots
As a teenager growing up in Orange County, McEuen worked in the Disney Magic House, where he met Steve Martin and took up the banjo as a way to get on the radio. Martin became his first student.
John McEuen brings over 45 years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Often referred to as 'the String Wizard', he weaves stories of his travels and family life (he has raised 7 kids), taking us through where his musical path has taken him.
A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966, John instigated the 1972 classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken album, (inducted in to the Library of Congress as 'one of America's most important recordings). He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy Awards, CMA acclaim, The Western Heritage Award, and many other accolades can be found on his website: www.johnmceuen.com.
Proud to be an integral part of the first American band to go to Russia (in 1977!), John's love of performing is evident when during his shows he takes us 'behind the curtain' of the music world that so many of us know of only as listeners, and shows us how we have all been a part of it, more than we may know.
McEuen's XM radio show, Acoustic Traveller, is in its 6th year, and you can find his new Americana Music Show on Syndicatednews.net (of which he is CEO)
As winner of the 2010 Best of the West Performer award from the Folk Alliance organization, John's show is sure to be one enjoyed by all. He also won Best Bluegrass Album Grammy that year for his production of The Crow - Steve Martin. John in June of 2013 was honored with the Charlie Poole Lifetime Achievement Award in North Carolina.
With music from 1860's to now, original songs laced with known hits, and a special tribute to the 'Circle' album music (and the stories behind it), it all comes to life in an evening of acoustic music in overdrive.
