Freaky Tiki Happening at Secret Island

It's a wild and crazy Saturday when you Escape to Secret Island!

With 4 levels of entertainment, 2 stages, 4 restaurants and 4 bars, this is a happening party!

In our subterranean speakeasy, Secret Island Tiki Lounge has a Rockin' Surf Band Festival featuring the Tequila Worms, Sant Anna Bay Coconuts and the marvelous Little Kahuna all day long. Enjoy the exotic craft cocktails and terrific tiki menu as you listen to the pros show you how it's done.

At The Top ballroom swings out with Shorty's Swingin' Coconuts playing their unique brand of hulabilly music.

Next, The Scimitars perform their original exotic Middle-Eastern surf music with a lively and lovely belly dancer accompanying their mysterious, compelling beat.

From Russia with Love: St. Petersberg's vivacious Draculina and her band play lush instrumentals with dramatic flair, adding a touch of sexy surf to the main stage.

Headlining the all-day event is Deadbolt. The San Diego band plays voodoo-billy music with an evil slant that sends listeners to the fifth dimension - and beyond. Combining rockabilly and surf music with tongue-in-cheek horror-themed lyrics, Deadbolt has been called the "scariest band in the world."

At the Top features a large dance floor and boasts a long art deco bar, plus a barbecue buffet. See go-go girls, dozens of lifestyle vendors and some amazing costumes, as Freaky Tiki is just 12 days prior to Halloween!

In addition, Marvelous Mavens has created a band of circus-style performers featuring characters doing acrobatics, legerdemain and other oddities. Throughout the afternoon, watch their crazy and clever antics between band performances.

All over the historic Shannon's Corner, which is a labyrinth of stairwells, grotto and hidden entrances, you will find activities to tickle your senses, from taste and touch to sight and sound. Experience rum-tastings, a class in mocktail making, and 4 different menus, making this a real Freaky Tiki Happening.

2-9 pm at 209 Pine Ave in downtown Long Beach at Broadway.

2 hours free parking at 50 W. 3rd st. parking ramp a block away.

All ages, all-access pass, early bird price is just $40 until Sept. 15.
